Course Rationale:
- In virtually all organisations and social communities, we bring with us diverse perspectives, work experiences, life styles and cultures.
- The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means respect for and appreciation of differences ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, disability, education and religion.
- Inclusion is a state of being valued, respected and supported. It is about focusing on the needs of every individual and ensuring the right conditions are in place for each person to achieve his or her full potential.
- Simply put, diversity is the mix; inclusion is getting the mix to work well together.
- The need for the development of welcoming and inclusive organisations and communities is gaining increasing acceptance. However, along with this acceptance there are questions about the practical steps needed to develop a comprehensive approach to inclusion. This workshop therefore, introduces key concepts tools and techniques to counter the effects of our “biases”, and to improve our ability to interpret and respond appropriately to others.
